It is our free day. The city is quite as it is Sabbath. In order not to waste the day I joined a group of my fellow students to visit the Israeli Museum and the Shrine of the Book. The Shrine was built to accommodate the scrolls found in Qumran that are one of the oldest copies of the Hebrew Bible. It was an interesting experience to see photocopies of them and the copies of other old Bibles. The shape reminds of the containers in which the scrolls were find.
As I was walking back to the hotel I started thinking that if the pace of our course is maintained I will end up being very spiritual and knowledgeable from the amount of information I am getting or I will have a mental break down. I will be also extremely fit from the amount of walking we are doing daily or I will need to have a knee reconstruction. Honestly this City doesn’t have streets but stairs.
On the way to hotel I could also witnessed Jews going to or coming back from Synagogues wearing their special outfits. Somebody explained to me that within the city they can walk as much as they want to on Sabbath but if they leave the boundaries the city they can only walk a thousand steps.
